MONET'S ORBIT: Susan Weber's new CD has arrived!
THE CD Susan Weber's debut rock album, Monet's Orbit, demonstrates the versatility, range, and anthemic qualities of both her lyrics and music. Structured in the style of Bob Dylan's classic "Blonde on Blonde", Monet's Orbit begins with two songs, "Buffalo" and "Spoke", that rock in a different vein from the rest of the collection, but rev up the listener for the third cut, the ballad epic "Carnival", in the tradition of Dylan's "Visions of Johanna" or Grace Slick's "White Rabbit." From there it is a time-stopping phantasmagoric trip through the remaining cuts. Ms. Weber spits like Patti Smith in some songs, soaks others with the emotional authenticity of Mick Jagger (Continuum), and concludes with her rock-anthem "She Is Here."
THE MUSICIANS Her live band includes Weber, lead vocal and guitars; backup vocalist Walt Campbell, bass and harmonica; and Berkelee prodigy Trees Mausser, drums and percussion. The album also features lead guitarists John McGrail and Jay Bentoff; saxophonist Spencer Kohan; and Chris Solt, drums, percussion, and keyboards. Weber shares production credit with Campbell and Bentoff, who engineered the project at Dark Tree Studios in Cleveland, Ohio.
