Susan Weber 'mesmerizes' Bedford families

BEDFORD (April 10, 2010) Bedford’s new arts series, ‘Creative Kids & Coffee Moms,’ featured Susan Weber this week, performing interactive songs and stories for families with young children.

Bi-monthly performances, sponsored by the Bedford Arts and Cultural Board, are hosted at the DiJulius Café. Weber’s participatory ‘Happy, Healthy Me!’ invited children and adults into song and movement inspired by the artist’s stories, puppets and guitar.

Weber, recipient of Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio’s Sunshine Award for Art in Education, launched the series in March with ‘Ladybugs!’

In addition to public events, she presents a broad range of performances and workshops that integrate music and theater arts into the pre-school through middle school curriculum in her work as a professional teaching artist.

Joyce Daunch, organizer of the arts series for the City of Bedford, said, ‘Susan was fantastic! I am ecstatic. All of our goals were met. The children enjoyed it, they  â€¨were mesmerized. Parents enjoyed it and said this is what Bedford needs! Steve [DiJulius] sold more than coffee. Add sandwiches, ice cream, bakery and more, so he is happy! From what I observed, the other patrons seemed to enjoy it as well.’

The free family series continues Saturday, April 24th at 10 A.M. with Weber’s ‘Everybody’s Got a Name.’ Looking to the future, Daunch hopes ‘to make this a regular event for Bedford families.’
