CLEVELAND (December 1, 2009) Susan Weber, professional teaching artist with Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio (YANEO), appears on Time Warner Cable’s Arts Quest this month. The show, which features artists and arts organizations throughout the region, interviewed Weber and YANEO Education Manager David Schiopota for a segment to be aired through December.
Weber has visited schools, libraries and community events for over a decade, performing and presenting workshops and residencies that combine storytelling and music with Language Arts and Social Studies. Recipient of YANEO’s 2003 Sunshine Award for Excellence in Arts Education, she has extensive experience with arts for education and the valuable resource YANEO offers the community.
‘My job, as a teaching artist, is to show children that the very same discipline that I use as an artist every day, that we use in art to solve problems, to be curious, to troubleshoot, to find out more - try things different ways - those are the same skills we use to learn anything. So the arts and education very naturally belong together,’ says Weber.
